It's typical that a business will try to be friendly after a claim so people don't go to a lawyer, and they may try to settle cheap.

The general statute of limitations is 2 years in PA, but you shouldn't wait. You should consult counsel now to protect your rights.

You have 2 years from the date of accident. I would not recommend you directly negotiating with the insurance company or the business. Normally, we put the business on notice of a claim and are notified by the insurance carrier of an adjuster's information. Their job is to minimize what they have to pay for your claim. I would recommend that you consult an aattorney regarding this matter. Your attorney's job is to maximize the settlement or judgment you receive. I have several office locations and reasonable rates.
