Legal Question in Social Security Law in Pennsylvania

ssi benefit for child

i am a divorced mother of a child receiving disablity benefits, i am planning to remarry in the future. i was informed that although her child support from her father will not be effected by me getting married, her ssi benefits will be due to her non biological ''step fathers'' income in the household. Does social security count the income of her step father?

Re: ssi benefit for child

Yes. SSI is a needs-based program. Any "resources" of the household will be considered. SSA calls his "Deeming or Deemed income."
