Legal Question in Business Law in South Carolina

oral business contracts

After a 10 year relationship during which I helped start 2 businesses and worked in both, we broke up.I am claiming 50% of his business as both were started while we were a couple and I devoted my time off, evenings, weekends and vacation to these corporations.I traveled extensively and went on over 100 business trips.I worked trade shows and was introduced as his wife on many occasions. He states that he never promised any part to me and that our relationship was simply an affair and that we had no such contract. Is a verbal contract enforceable? There is nothing in writing. I have trip and credit card receipts.

Re: oral business contracts

You need to consult with a South Carolina attorney. If the two of you have been living together and holding yourselves out to the community as married, you may have a common law marriage. Don't hesitate to consult with an atorney.
