Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina

Future medical problems from car wreck

I was hit by an RC Cola tractor trailor truck 3 years ago. He was charged at fault. I have a lawyer and the case is getting closer to being settledbut I have suffered for 3 years with a hip injury I recieved in the crash. Here is where my case gets tricky. I know that there is like a percentage or something that one usually gets over the amount of medical bills but my case is different, or I think it should be. When I was a teenager I had surgery on my back for scoliosis. After I became of age and was no longer covered under my moms insurance I have never been able to get another insurance company to insure me because of the surgery without it costing me more than I will ever afford. So I am unable to go to the doctor without paying cash which has made it impossible for me to get the attention I have needed on hip injury from this wreck. I saw my doctor a couple of times and paid him cash and he daid he needs to refer me to a nerve specialist because he is convinced the pain and numbness I feel is a nerve and he is a bone Dr. the problem is there is no way I can pay for that.

I was going to wait until I settled my case and use that money to get help but I don't know if it will be enough. Do you think I can ask for more for that?

Since you already have an attorney, you really need to discuss these issues with him/her.

Best of luck,
