Personal Representative Qualifications

May a resident of Richland County, South Carolina, appoint to serve as one's executor or personal representative an individual who is not a USA citizen and is in the USA on a student visa at the present time?

It may be legal to appoint such a person, but it is not a good idea. The person you choose as your personal representative will have to handle your affairs where you live. An out of town personal representative will be greatly inconvenienced and also may not receive notices and information in a timely manner. Sometimes choosing an out of town personal representative is unavoidable, but it is always more difficult.
