Legal Question in Workers Comp in South Carolina

Federal Workers comp

I fell and dislocated my right shoulder iat work on December 12,2008.

It took 4 weeks to see a othropedic surgeon( dislocated shoulder). I was told because FEDERAL WORKS COMPENSATION ( FWC)had to give permission. The policy of the department I work for states that the Human resource person is to assist as a liasion between the injured worker and FWC.

Stayed home for 1 week, per doctors orders, using my sick leave time. The HR person , faxed me the information in about pay while on FWC after the fact. Not told about choice of using FWC.

There has never been a poster in my office on what to do if you are injured at work.

HR did not assit in the process of using FWC. HR person reported to me , when I received a case number , they had nothing else to do with me.

Finally put on limited duty ( right hand dominant) , nothing changed at work.,

I waited 4 weeks for permission from FWC Jacksonville, FL to see an orthopedic surgeon and then another 4 weeks for the physical therapy her prescribed.

I am a federal worker. The entire incident cause me anxiety, mental anguish and slowed the process of my obtaining medical attention in a timely manner.

No help with where bills are sent.

Please advise

I'm sorry to hear about everything you have gone through. Your question is a very intelligent and reasonable one. However, these federal WC cases get very complicated and involved. It would simply require writing a short book here in order to fill you in on everything. The best thing you can do is make and appointment with a WC attorney that practices with Fed. WC. I wish you the best
