Legal Question in Workers Comp in South Carolina

i have a lawyer for 1 1/2 years and am now being told i will never work again, he is sayingg the case will take another 6 months, i am homeless and live paycheck to paycheck, i want to work, can i get a new lawyer at this late date

First of all, I always encourage people to talk with their current lawyer before switching. A lot of things can be cleared up with a meaningful conversation. It is entirely possible that your lawyer is in the best position to continue with the case and acheive the best possible results for you. So I would strongly advise you to talk with him/her. If you absolutely cannot resolve your concerns, then you have the right to retain another attorney. However, I do not know if you would owe your existing attorney anything for the work that has been done.
