Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Husband cancelled wife's car insurance and didn't tell her

My husband quit paying my car insurance and didn't tell me. He took the letters from our insurance company threatening to cancel it out of the mail and destroyed them so I would not see them. I have been driving around for 3 months without insurance and had no idea untill today. Yes, I married this man but can he get away with this legally? I would never have let my insurance cancel. I would have gotten the money to pay for it from my parents untill I could pay them back. Now I have to pay a higher rate and it doesn't seem fair.

If a divorce has been filed, then there are injunctions that prohibit this type of behavior. You would then need to discuss it with your attorney. If you are not in a process of a divorce, this is considered a domestic dispute and there may be nothing the courts will be able to do to help you.
