Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

motion for alienated father to establish jurisdiction in another state and given

Divorced since 92, the father has never voluntarily paid child support or even sent these children a christmas card. He has petitioned the court for jurisdiction in his home state and for custody of the children. The children have lived with the mother since the divorce, al biet, 2 years in his home state over 9 months ago, due to financial difficulties.(This was with the mother's mother)

The mother is stable and has had the same job for five years. The father hasn't held a ''tax paying job'' and can never be traced for child support garnishments. Do I need an attorney or can I appear myself to disprove his lies, I have only been given a week's notice and I haven't the resources for representation.

If your case is in Tennessee, I suggest you get an attorney. If you are without funds, most towns have a Legal Aid office. I will be happy to talk with you if you wish to contact me. To review info on my firm, see www.gsmithlawfirm.com .
