Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee

I have a case where I gave a person valuable assets to sell worth over $500,000. The person was to find a buyer and store the precious metals. Instead the person stole the goods by selling the merchandise to another merchant. The time frame has been a year since the metals was given to this person but the defendant made known he sold the merchandise to me one month ago so the statute of limitations have not expired. I do not wish to file the claim in small claims court because the value of the assets are a considerable amount more than $7,500. I am seeking advice on filing a claim against the defendant who lives in NC for usury as well as information on how to get started with the claim against this person.
