Legal Question in Immigration Law in Tennessee

E2 divorce, re-merry

I am here in US as a dependent spouse of E2 holder. But, I have been planning to divorce him cause he is abusing me physically. Due to his abusive act, I left my husband and moved to different state 6 months ago. I got a job (working with EAD) and lately I met a man and we were in love.We plan to get merry but my husband is refused to divorce me. I am planning on asking a divorce through lawyer, and merry the man I love. My E2 visa is automatically terminated after the divorce which will affect my work. Can I remain in US and adjust my status after I get merry? My boyfriend is US citizen.

Re: E2 divorce, re-merry

When you get the divorce you will loose your E2 Eligibility and become immediately deportable. You can get married to your US Citizen spouse and apply for a new greencard, adjustment of status and a new work permit
