Statute of limations of Medical Bills

Pt has been deceased for 8mos and just received the first hospital bill. Are we liable?

The estate is liable but no one else. The medical

providers should receive notice of a probate proceeding. Once they receive notice of a probate proceeding, they have 4 months to file a claim against the estate. If there is no money in the estate to pay the medical bills, the estate will be declared insolvent and, therefore, unable to pay the medical bills.
