Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I loaned an Ex-fianc money while we were together to help pay for his bills while he was working a job that did not pay much and when he was unemployed. After a few years of this I kicked him out with a verbal agreement that as soon as he got a job he would start paying me back. I kicked him out in 2010 and the total I had paid for at that time was about $18,000.00, and I have been trying to keep in touch with him. However, he has stopped calling me for the last year. I have just heard that he has acquired a job and his friends and family are not giving me any information as to how to contact him. I was wondering if there was anything that I could do to try and get my money back, since now my income has dropped and I could really use it to pay bills??? Thanks for any help you can give me.

you must file a lawsuit within 4 years of time you made the loan and he agreed to pay...and the cost of filing is $250 to $300 cost of service $50 to $150...but if u loaned it to him before 2010, he has the defense of statute of limitations..then u have to prove the amount was $18,000 and if you win, you have to collect..which will probablybe the hardest unless he has saved money or has other assets..
