Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

domestic violence

I have a family violence charge since 1998 or 1999. I got a deferred ajudication. Can I get that charge expunged? Can I still qualify for a government or a law enforcement job. What steps do I have to take?

Re: domestic violence

Deferred adjudication, for any offense except a Class C misdemeanor, is not eligible for an expunction.

A family violence assault is also disqualified from an order of non-disclosure. If your assault does not specifically denote family violence, then you may qualify. Consult with an attorney in the county of the offense.
