It depends on several factors, but a good DWI Attorney is going to cost you between $7-10,000.00, but don't wait too long to contact one because you only have 15 days from the date of your arrest in which to request a hearing in order to save your drivers license. Please read carefully the form entitled, "Notice of Suspension and Temporary Driving permit." You will notice that if you do not do something within the 15 days, your license will be suspended 40 days after your arrest. Not all attorneys handle DWIs so check the attorney very carefully, before retaining their services. Good Luck.

To get the charges dismissed? A million dollars -- because there is never a guarantee. You are playing the odds -- the odds that the police made a mistake, that the DA makes a mistake, that your lawyer can find the mistake. And if there are no mistakes, that your lawyer can negotiate the best possible deal for you.

Considering the consequences of a conviction, you have to decide the money value of the lawyer you hire.

I require a minimum $1000 retainer in a misdemeanor case, the total fee will exceed the retainer. Other lawyers have other payment requirements. Start making phone calls.

For a first time DWI you can find an exceptional attorney for $5000. You have to be careful that you do not get an attorney who will just plea your case. A DWI will remain on your record for your lifetime in TX. So, if you ad up the surcharges ($1000 yr x 3 years), the probation costs, the counseling costs, the drug testing, the SR-22 insurance, etc. etc. you will be doing yourself a favor by getting an attorney who is not afraid of the courtroom. If you would like to give us a call our phone number is on our websites: Shefman Law Group at www.austintexasdwidefense.com or www.centraltexasdwilawyer.com
