Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My ex boyfriend has a record of dWI's and has been violent while being drunk. While he is a fairly good father while being sober, he doesn't take responsibily for his actions and I am worried since he takes them so lightly he may end up harming my son. He recently came to my house drunk at four in the morning and asualted me with my 15 month old son, that we share, present in the room. He punched a hole in the door and dameaged my laptop computer by pooring water on it. He attempted to take my son to his mothers house in this condition. I called the police and they came in, I told them breifly what happened and when they questioned him he acted like he was trying to sleep. They took him to his mothers around 5 AM. We have temporary orders for child support and supervised visitation but are due to go back for permanent orders and I am concerned that with standard visitation he may one day endanger my son or cause him mental trauma. He gets very defensive when I bring it up and denies most of his actions and I am not sure what I should do. M Texas
