Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

name change for a minor - I am the only parent on the birth certificate

My son's last name is hyphenated. I

would like to do a legal name change

to drop one of the last names. I am

the only parent on the birth

certificate and there has never been

an admission of paternity. Am I

going to have to contact his father or

can I do this alone?

The Dad will have to agree, too. You should talk to a good family law attorney about the name change and doing a paternity action.
