Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I really don't know what this would be under, feel free to move it (if yall do that on this site?) to a better section.

Okay, let me try and explain the situation as best as I can. Basically there's a 20 year old who has been abused by his mother, verbally his entire life, and physically up until about age 14. She pulled him out of high school his Senior year, and moved them out to the middle of nowhere. He has no driver's license and no money, and is too far away from anything to walk. The rest of his family is just as bad, so he has nobody that could take him in.

Backstory aside, what I'm asking is what would be the best and quickest way to go about getting him out of that situation, and living on his own? I've looked into Section 8 housing, but the waiting lists are incredibly long, and the situation is becoming worse. Is there any other way?

(Doing a free question simply because I have no money myself...)

I'm so sorry he is in this horrible situation.

I'm assuming he does not have any disabilities, other than those imposed by his bad circumstances. If so, as an adult, he has these options:

1. A friend to take him in.

2. Section 8 Housing.

3. A homeless shelter.

Once out of the bad situation, he needs to get a GED and then a job. Once he has his own money, his freedom will be easier to secure.

For example, Samaritan Inn in McKinney, Texas is a great place. If there is a place like that where he lives, they can turn his life around.

Good luck!
