Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Gift

my mother gifted me with a $10,000.00 ring April 2007. the ring was in her will to come to me anyway, then my oldest daughter, etc. she and i had an arguement a week ago and now she has changed her will, and the execector (which was me) to my sister and there is no mention of how the ring should be handed down within the future generations. she is now asking for the ring back. it was a true gift to me and everyone in our family knows it as i have worn it constantly since she gave it tome last year in front of her and everyone. do i have to give the ring back. my sister has threated me that their lawyer will draw up papers for my mother to sign that will make me give the ring back. thank you.

Re: Gift

If the facts are as you say, the ring was a present gift. The fact that it was mentioned in the will at the time of the gift really does not matter very much. Some, but not much. The fact that it is not mentioned in the present will is more important. Good Luck
