Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Can grandmother interfere with adoption of her grandchild?

My neice wants to give her child to my family to adopt. Her husband agrees. The only problem would be the babies maternal grandmother- my halfsister. Due to health problems and personal issues the daughter does not want the mother to adopt. Can the Grandmother sue to get the baby? Money is a definite issue for us, but not for them. We have 3 other children and just want to give the baby a loving, family enviroment for my neice. What should I do?

Re: Can grandmother interfere with adoption of her grandchild?

Possibly if the child's present environment endangers the child's physical health or welfare or if the parents' consent to or file the suit. You didn't state the reason why your niece and her husband are giving up the child, and this may have an effect. I will be happy to discuss this with you.
