Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Minor child visitation with parent.

My 14 yr. old grandson's parents shared custody with his father having primary custody. My grandson does not want to spend any more time with his mom. What legal steps need to be taken so that he can visit only when he wants to. This is in Texas.

Re: Minor child visitation with parent.

It is important to find out why he doesn't want to visit. Fourteen year old boys, under the law, do not have this choice -- and sometimes it is personality conflict that is better resolved than avoided. Speak with an attorney regarding a modification, however, the boy should also speak with a therapist, and determine the root of the problem. Family counseling could be a much better alternative. By the same token, if mom is somehow hurting the boy, then that needs to be addressed in the courts.
