Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I just had a question yesterday 06/11/2013 my boyfriend and me got into a physical altercation he called the police and told me I would need to leave he wouldn`t let me take the baby so I told him if I couldn`t have my baby I didn`t want to live he calls an ambulance and they take me to the hospital for a possible suicide attempt well a couple hours later I get out of the hospital and I get the cops to do a civil stand by so I can get my belongings from my boyfriends house I get my cloths and as I pick up my child the police officer tells me you can`t leave with that child is that right my child is online 2 weeks old I need answers quickly as to what I can do to get my child back. to leave him with the father wouldn`t be very good but you have to do what police say

If the police would not allow you to remove the child, then you are going to have to go to court and get a court order.

You need to consult a local family law attorney.

Look on this website and on www.avvo.com

If you have no money you can look on the State Bar of Texas website for a pro bono (free) attorney but they are booked up and you will probably be waiting for months for a free attorney. I doubt that you want to wait. Plus, then he will have a much stronger case to keep the child in his possession.
