How long (on average)after death is the reading & execution of a will and where does this usually take place?

Good TV and Movie script..but normally a will is not "read"..but if a person has the will but if... probate is necessary..the application to probate is filed with will attached. After that, and a hearing appointing an executor...the law requires the executor to send notice to all known heirs...but no "reading" etc..
