Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Ok so let me start by saying I live in Utah. I have a son he is three years old. I had him when I was 16, me and the father were not married. He lived with me from the time he was born till last year. We have legal paternity established and by this I mean we know his dad is his dad and he pays child support. My son also has his fathers last name. Back in December of 2010 I allowed his father to take him because 1: it was Christmas break and his brother was home from school. In January I called my ex and asked for my son back we had agreed on a time for him to come home. He told me that before I could get him back that I had to sign a paper stating that he got part custody and the paper would be done by his stipulations and that if I didn't sign it he wouldn't give me my son back. I told him no and I had called the police and found out that there is nothing I could do or so the police stated. I was pregnant at the time and I was put on bed rest by my doctor so at the time it was fine that his dad had him. For the past few months I have been trying to get a hold of his dad and ask if I can get him back or come see him at first he would just say that I cant take him and that he gets full custody now and I will never get him again and the only way I could see him is if I go over there and it would be supervised visits. Now he wont answer my texts or calls. What can I do? Where do I begin from here. Please someone help I have no idea where to go from here.

You need to go to court to get orders describing the custody arrangements.
