Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Teen father and child's last name

I am a teen father and signed the paper work establishing myself as the father of the child. Is it in my legal rights to have the child named and carrying my last name?

Generally it is not a legal right. The mother will generally name the child, however, you can try to get her to agree. More importantly, you should be seeking a court order to establish your legal parent status, visitation rights and child support.
