Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Utah

We had my uncle work on my son's car during his deployment to Iraq (as a family member).. He was working for a dealership at the time as service manager. He took the car to work with him, and had his people do some work. He also contracted a stereo shop install new speakers and electronic door openers (we had purchased them). When we got the car back, we learned (from another michanic) that the speakers and door opener were wired wrong and the selenoids blown. They are wanting 1000 for the bill, and now we have to pay another $500 for door selanoid and get new speakers. Do we have a case? Who would we involve?

It appears that the dealership should be responsible for the work, since they performed it. A complaint should be lodged with the dealer to repair the car. Get a written statement from the new mechanic as to his opinion of what was done wrong.
