Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Utah

Warranty Issue - Vehicle

We purchased a new jeep on 2007. We have put just over 19000 miles on an 8 year - 80000 mile warranty. Our front axle broke and they claimed we are at fault and woul have to pay for the repair. We called and asked for a second opinion from another chrysler dealer locally. They saidthe repair was covered under our warranty and had roadside assistance tow the Jeep to them. The first dealer was upset we moved our Jeep and placed a hold on our vehicle and voided our power train warranty. We fought them over this for 2 weeks and finally they came down and refused to over turn the decision. We had purchased extended warranty also from the same dealership that was to go into effect as soon as the other warranty expired. We asked to use that to cover the cost of the repair and they said only the power train was no longer covered but rest of the factory warranty was still in effect. So to help us they said to let them do the repair work at the original shop and they would discount the repair amount from 2600 to 1500 plus tax ... so far it has been a month that we have had no vehicle and they still are claiming to fix it as a favor to us. My question is should we seek legal advice and do we have any grounds to stand on?

You need a lawyer to review your warranty and the reasons why dealer #1 is not performing. You may call for a free consultation.
