Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Credit Report(ing)

How many times are creditors allowed to do an inquiry or post something negative about the same debt within, lets say a six mnth time frame? I have a creditor that I owe and for unforsee reason the bottomline of the debt has changed very lil. So everytime something changes like interest charges, or new mnthluy charges are added, etc.. are tacted on. They reflect the new amount on my credit report. Can they do this everytime something changes?
