Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

judgement limitation

Once a judgement has been made how long is it be enforced? how long does it stay on public record? If it is over 15-20 years old can it be used to deny you credit?

Re: judgement limitation

A lien filed based on a valid judgment is good for 20 years, and, upon expiration of the first 20 year period, may be renewed for another 20.

And, yes, as long as it's on "the books", so to speak, a potential creditor may, of course, use the fact of its existence in evaluating your credit worthiness.
