Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I was supposed to have filed a grounds of defense in VA, however, I forgot bc my father passed last month w/ lung cancer. Can I still file one and submit it or can I contact the Virginia Legal Aid to represent me. I am on permanent total disability from a brain anneurysm. How should I proceed?

I think you should check the case. You may find that the judgment has already been entered given the amount of time that has passed. If your income is from social security disability, it is not vulnerable to garnishment. However, other assets and the account those funds are deposited into can be attached. I would contact a bankruptcy attorney to determine if bankruptcy is an option for ending your credit nightmare. Sorry to hear about your father.
