Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

form

Please help! I've been unsucessful trying to find a ''change of venue'' form. My inital divorce/custody hearing was in Hampton, Va. and I've relocated to Manassas, Va. I need to file a Motion to Transfer Venue because I need to file a motion to amend custody/visitation and support. The distance to Hampton is over 100 miles so it is not economical to file down. The court has been aware of my relocation since 1996. I've searched so many sites that contain forms but none apply. Can you please help????

Thank you for any help that you may be able to give,

Martha

Re: form

If your original divorce took place in the Hampton

Circuit Court which also included orders for custody, visitation, and child support, you

will need a motion filed with that court transferring jurisdiction for these matters to the Prince William County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, where you will be able to initiate actions on your own, without an attorney, to have orders affecting these matters amended as you see fit.

If you call the clerk's office of the Hampton Circuit Court, they may have a preprinted motion form that you can use to accomplish this transfer,

or you may have to engage the services of an attorney in the Hampton area to prepare and file one on your behalf.
