Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My husband packed a suite case and left the apartment 3 weeks ago and I haven't seen him since. He has left me unemployed and with a $2145 rent. I have locked most of his possessions in my room because if I need to I can sell them and pay for rent or food. But my husband has threatened to break down the door or bring a cop by to get his stuff. I will have nothing if he comes and takes everything. Can I legally keep the property since he has abandoned the home or at least keep it until the divorce and marital property is settled?

You would do so at your peril. You should see an attorney asap.

You need to get into court right away. He can be required to pay you support, at least until the divorce case is completed in more than a year; the likely amount would be about 30% of his gross income.
