Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

My car was towed, should it have been??

Hi there. I live in a townhouse community, and have/had a 3rd car that was not being used. The association has all info on the car, because we are assigned #'d decals for each car, so they know who the car belongs to. Well, the association towed the car because they said it was being ''stored'', which I don't believe to be the case. I pay taxed on the car, it is registered, and insured. the only thing that it does not have is a updated inspection sticker, which, since it wasn't being driven, I didn't see a need. The inspection sticker is dated 2002, so as you can see, it's been being ''stored'' for awhile. I never received notice from the association via phone or mail...which they have ALL my information. (and you know I got a letter telling me that someone reported I didn't pick up after my dog) This just happened earlier today, and the association was closed by the time I got home from work. I just wanted to have all my ducks in a row when I speak to them tomorrow. I really would appreciate any advise that you could give me, as I am really at a loss right now. If you have any questions, let me know. Thank you so much in advance for you time and consideration!!

Re: My car was towed, should it have been??

Your car under association rules was clearly being stored if it had an expired inspection sticker dating from the year 2002 and had not been driven since then.

Your options then are: (1) to give this vehicle

"unstored" status by getting it inspected and operating it(at least occasionally) or (2) disposing of it.

When you next speak with association representatives, you should be prepared to offer one or the other of these alternatives and assurance that you will expeditiously follow through with your promise.
