Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Exemptions

It apears that the only way of knowing if the debtor is exempt would be to submit a form to the debtor, along with the garnishment

notice.

Is there a database that would indicate if the judgment debtor is

truly exempt from Garnishment?

Re: Exemptions

No, none that I know of. (The assertion of an exemption to garnishment is a claim which must obviously be put forward by the judgment debtor

after the summons in garnishment and related papers have been served upon him or her, and only then can it be evaluated by the court issuing the garnishment as to its legitimacy.)
