Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

I have a Warrant In Detinue for my vehicle. It was accompanied by a letter to surrender the vehicle or pay the total amount owed plus fees. I have every intention to pay the amount due. It would be easier to pay it in two payments, but I'm not certain as to whether I should contact the law firm that sent the letter, hire my own attorney, go to court, etc.

Contact the law firm with your proposal to settle the matter with

two installment payments. (And, if they agree, then get it in writing.)
