Legal Question in International Law in Virginia

International banking law

I have been requested by a company in the UK to accept their customer payments in the US take out 15% and moneygram the rest to the company. They are stating that they will pay all applicable taxes. They state that they cannot cash US money orders in the UK so they need me to be their rep in the US to take care of it. Is this a legal procedure or are there laws preventing this from occuring that I should know about before I become involved in this endeavo.

Re: International banking law

You have been requested? Indeed, you and the Tooth Fairy.

As Mr. Press has noted, this is probably an invitation to be scammed. Even without knowing more facts, it has the unmistakable odor of

Nigerian Internet schemes, which some say currently drive a substantial portion of Nigeria's GNP.

Some of these fraudsters even are now posing as Chinese noveau riche capitalists operating out of Hong Kong and looking for gullible assistants to help them expand their markets in North America. (By cashing these money orders, of course, that supposedly are uncashable in the UK.)

Perhaps, you are one of these(targets for fraud).

Re: International banking law

It's probably not illegal, but it's also probably a fraudulent scheme. You will send them good money, and then the payments to you will bounce.
