Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Handicap Parking ticket

I recieved a letter from the City of Va. Beach, VA treasury dept. It stated that I had not paid a ticket so the fine doubled. The date of the ticket was 8/27/05. I received the letter 9/12. This is the first I heard of it. My daughter drove the car that night and the valet service for the club parked the car evidently in a handicap parking space. There was no ticket on the car when the car was returned to her.The ticket was dated 8/27 at 12:30 a.m at a Hardware stores parking lot. In the letter it stated that my license would be suspended. What can I do? The ticket is $250.

Re: Handicap Parking ticket

Write a letter to the Va. Beach Parking Authority

explaining the situation with a request that the ticket be dismissed and, if necessary, a hearing on the matter.

Re: Handicap Parking ticket

It is possible that you could sue the club to

pay the ticket, in small claims court or in

general district court, to the extent that she

paid them to park the car properly and they did

NOT do what they were paid to do, to park the

car properly. However, you may have difficulty

proving all of this.
