Re: removal of parental rights

Generally, parental rights will not be revoked unless a court determines the parent to be an unfit parent. In some cases, a biological parent may agree to relinquish his or her parental rights, such as in step-parent adoption cases.

The procedural method for seeking restrictions on parental rights depends on your specific situation. Are you divorced from the parent? Is there a divorce proceeding pending? Has parentage been determined?
