Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

Employee training

My employer wants me to get an FCC license at my own expense and on my own time in order to keep a job I have had for two years. The license is not required by the FCC or even applicable to my job. If they want me to have the license for their own reasons, shouldn't they pay for it?

Re: Employee training

Yes, they should pay. But if they don't pay you can at least take it off your taxes.

Will you be fired if you don't get it? If so, you need to think through how important your present job is to you and how hard it may be to get another job.
