Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Wisconsin

New Bankruptcy Laws

I would like to know if the bill(that was introduced last year) that was introduced to change the bankruptcy laws passed. If so when and how long do we have to file under the old bankruptcy laws?

Re: New Bankruptcy Laws

Hello,

The new law has not passed, but the experts are predicting it will this year. You may only have a few months to file under the old law -- but that is hard to say. Check the internet from time to time for updates. The new law is supposed to make it harder to eliminate debts -- more people will be forced into repayment plans in bankruptcy. Also, legal fees will be higher if you have to file under the new law.
