Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Wisconsin

Foreclosure reprting on credit report

In August of 2001 I fell behind in my mortgage payments due to a divorce. The loan is a VA loan and my mortgage company filed a foreclosure notice and gave me 3 options to stop the foreclosure process. I chose the option of a forbearance agreement in which I would pay my current month's house payment plus a portion of the payments I was behind in, and any legal fees included in this amount.

As of August of 2003, my account is current and I received a letter from Countrywide stating this. However, on my credit report, Countrywide is still listing the house was foreclosed in August of 2001 and shows late payments of 150 days every month from August 2001 thru 2003. Under the ''Fair Credit Reporting Acts'', legally is Countrywide able to do this? What are my legal rights since I DID make all of my current month payments on time for the last 2 years as well as the additional amount needed to cover any legal fees, late charges and past due balances. How can I get this fixed? How can I remove a foreclosure mark on my credit report - the house was never foreclosed on. What are my rights because I feel that Country Wide is showing misinterpreting information on my credit report.

Re: Foreclosure reprting on credit report

Hello,

The credit reporting company where you saw the report should have information on where to contact to get this changed. Otherwise do an internet search, you will find lots of explanations of detail on how to do this.
