Legal Question in Insurance Law in Wisconsin

need advice please!

On septembar 06.2000. i was in car accident it was my fault,my car was uninsured.Another driver wanted me to pay for damages on his car because his insurance plan does not pay coverage if someone hits him (he told me that)So we made a deal,i paid for his car and he signed ''GENERAL RELEASE'' wich says''...is herby aacknowledged,does herby release,satisfy and forever discharge Releasee of and from all manner of action,causes of action suits,debts covenants,contracts,controversies,agreements,promises,claims and demands whatsoever,wich Releasor ever had,now has,or wich any personal representative ,successor,heir or assign of Relator hereafter can shall or may have against Releasee by reason on motor wehicle accident''

Now his insurance company filed lawsuit against me asking for $ 17.000 that i must pay for damage caused in that accident,and also i have Court hearing scheduled abaut all this.
