Unless these stocks were held in some sort of account naming a beneficiary, stock certificates held solely in the name of a dead person must often be retitled through a court order. This usually means some sort of probate process. You should consult with an experienced probate attorney as soon as possible. Please do not assume that I am your attorney because of my response here. Call my office in Racine (262-633-3090 or email [email protected]) for clarifications or to make arrangements to retain me. Otherwise, I will not be taking any action on your case.
