Legal Question in Business Law in Wyoming

Name Change and Artist's Identity

I am a full-time artist who has been selling work for a number of years under my current name. I am getting married soon and would like to take my fiance's name and make my last name a second middle name. However, to avoid confusion in my business life, I would like to continue to market and sign my work and with my maiden name. Are there any legal reasons that I should not do this, or could it lead to difficulty down the road (for example, if we move to another state at some point, or in tax filing, etc.)?

Re: Name Change and Artist's Identity

Any US citizen can adopt any name s/he wishes, so long as it is not done to defraud someone. I can call myself the Lone Ranger if I want to, and it is perfectly legal. Many professionals, mostly women, have dual names now - one they use professionally, and one they use personally. There is no legal prohibition against the action you describe, and should be no adverse consequences down the road.
