Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in India

My mothers father(grand father) has already expired in 1970's. My mother has 3 sisters and 1 brother.He had made a lot of loans and now decided to sell some plot of land for some specified amount.So my mother asked for the share in sale of the land which should be divided equally among all of her sisters,Refusing this he says that if you want the share you will also have to share my loan amount.But the thing is they took the loan for their improvement and not for any others benefit.Plz help me regarding this query........

Dear Sir / Madam,

For sale of any family property, consent of all the 5 persons is required and your brother is only entitled to a 1/5th share of the proceeds.
