Legal Question in Employment Law in India

Hi,

I have got an offer letter from a software company, which i accepted. This contains the joining date, salary information, and other conditions like leaves, notice period etc once appointment is taken. There are no terms and conditions mentioned in the offer letter, but it includes one line "I accept the offer and join as per the date mentioned in the letter" & signature at the bottom.

Now, i got another better offer from a good company, which is more appropriate for my career & growth. I know it is unethical to fall back on the accepted agreement. But, had i got any hint about the new offer, i would not have accepted it. Now, how can i reject the first offer letter which i already accepted, without any legal consequences?

Regards,

Surya

Dear Surya,

Your acceptance of the offer by signing it signifies a valid contract. Leaving aside the "if's and but's" if you now wish to revoke and cancel the accepted offer, it would be ethical to inform the Company accordingly.
