Legal Question in Employment Law in India

I have resigned from GOI (Scientist/Gazetted officer) after 9 months of service on 7-June-2013. I was on Probation period. After submitting my resignation I joined a PSU on 27-June-2013. A few days later HR of PSU called me and said that he got a letter from my previous employer and asked me to submit Relieving letter asap.

I have submitted the letter which says relieved w.e.f. 26-07-2013. Now the HR is saying that he will accept joining only from 26-july-2013. But Ive joined on 27-june-2013. What are my options? I was not aware of such rules.

Your HR should have done this before your joining. If it is a mistake, then demand a letter with correct date of relieving from the former employer

Dear Sir / Madam,

I do not find anything amiss or wrong in the relieving letter issued by your previous employer, as your terms and conditions of appointment in the GOI undertaking may have stipulated a notice period which you were required to serve as a Scientist/Gazetted Officer in the GOI undertaking. Please check terms and conditions of service of your previous employer as stipulated in your Offer & Appointment letter and re-post query.

Regards,
