Re: bankrupt Typically, you cannot file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and discharge back taxes, BUT there are some (very rare) exceptions. Usually, people who owe back taxes are eligible, and usually benefit, by filing Chapter 13 Debtor's Court and paying those back taxes over a 5 year period.
