Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alabama

Can you ever clear a felony off your record in AL.?

When I lived in Al. 8 years ago I was convicted of Theft of Property (shoplifting). I recieved probation, which I finished after moving back to MS. I've had no other problems. I was 23 years old and made a stupid mistake and was wondering if there was anything at all I could do to get this off my record? I live in MS. currently. (Al. laws seem much harsher) I work in the healthcare profession and would be willing to try anything to clear my record. Thank you.

Since the conviction was in Alabama, Alabama law would apply, even though you live in Mississippi. The process by which you remove a conviction from your record is call expunction. Grounds for expunction are different in different states. To look into an expunction in Alabama, call attorney Russ Bergstrom at (251) 433-4214. If he can't help you, he should at least be able to point you in the right direction.
