Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Child support and bankruptcy

My sister has been divorced for 6 years. She has 3 children and is receiving child support from he ex.

She just received notice that her ex is filing for bankruptcy and has listed her as a creditor.

Does this mean that he will be able to stop paying child support?

Is his ownership of the house equity be lost as part of this filing?

Re: Child support and bankruptcy

No, he cannot get out of paying child support by filing bankruptcy, but she should go talk to her divorce lawyer to see of there is anything they should file to protect her interest.
